Design authority role throughout a SmartRecruiters implementation for a Dutch professional services firm — preventing scope drift and protecting operating model intent across a 9-month project.
The challenge
The SI proposed a standard SmartRecruiters configuration that did not reflect the organisation's tiered service model or their specific hiring manager workflow requirements. Without intervention, the implementation would have delivered a platform that HR would need to work around rather than with.
Our approach
Joined the project as design authority at project initiation. Reviewed all configuration decisions against operating model documentation. Challenged the SI on five major configuration proposals that deviated from requirements. Managed two scope escalations through the project steering committee.
Outcome
Platform implemented to specification. Post-go-live adoption rate 40% higher than the organisation's previous ATS deployment. No post-go-live operating model rework required.
